Evangeline Labs takes its name from two old stories that point the same way. The first is the word itself: Evangeline comes from the Greek euangelion, “good news,” the same word English translates as gospel. At its root is angelos, “messenger.”
The second is Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s 1847 poem Evangeline, the story of an Acadian woman separated from the man she loves when her people are driven from their homes, and who spends her life searching for him. Her journey carries her to Louisiana, where Acadian families rebuilt and became part of the heart of Acadiana, and she remains a lasting symbol of the state.
We’re a Louisiana company, and both meanings fit what we build. Our software exists to carry the message: to make sure the right news reaches every person on a team, and to keep people connected even when work keeps them miles apart.
